R.I.P Aaliyah 1979-2001

Its crazy how time flies, its hard to believe that it has been 8 years since she left this world. Aaliyah was such a bright star with a warm personality. But the world was obviously not enough for her, and she was called on to a higher place.

She has always been an inspiration to me since she came out in 1994 because she was so young. She was just 3 years older than me which showed me that your age doesn't really matter. She was very well spoken and intelligent, depicting that age really was just a number. As she grew up before the world's eyes, I felt like I grew with her. She developed and maintained her own personal style which matured as she did. She was never scared to take risks which is what a true fashionista does.

Aaliyah will forever be missed by me and so many other people around the world, but she lives on in all of our hearts.

Ginuwine's New Single

So here is the new video by Ginuwine entitled "Trouble", it features For The Love Of Ray J winner Cocktail. Apparently she is saying she has received some negative comments about her appearance in the video, related to the fact that she is Latina. I'll just say that I don't get it, there is no reason to hate on that. There are bunches of Latina a other exotic looking women in all these music videos, so if she really is getting those kinds of comments, those people are just completely ignorant>>>NEXT!!!!

Anyway I must say that I like this song. I also liked his previous single "Last Chance". I definitely think his album "A Man's Thoughts" is worth a purchase and it's now available in stores and on itunes.

She's Bad....

I mean really just look at her. People may hate all they want but Beyonce is one bad bish!! She looks fab and is great at entertaining us, that is clearly what she was born to do. I got to say I abousolutely love the Sweet Dreams video. I was almost gonna be mad that it was looking so similar to her three previous videos but the song just makes it that much better and the booty poppin at the break down is great! It brings me back to my high school days and I L-O-V-E it!! Get it Bey we love ya girl!

Check this out if you haven't already.

In Memoriam: Naomi Sims

Naomi Sims was one of the first successful black models in the late 60's as a teenager. Halston was quoted by the New York Times in 1974 saying that "she was the first. She was the great ambassador for all black people. She broke down all the social barriers". While working in the industry she noticed that the wigs used were in the likeness of Caucasian hair. She then started baking synthetic hair in her oven at home to create wigs fashioned after relaxed African-American hair. Her business became very successful. In 1973 she retired from modeling and within five years her designs produced by the Metropa Company had annual sales of $5 million.

She passed away Saturday at age 61 from cancer. She was a true inspiration for all women, especially women of color. She showed that you can overcome anything in order to become successful at whatever you want to do in life if you put your mind to it.
